Last Night’s Shelf

If you weren’t at last night’s Shelf awards (sponsored partly by Know) – shame on you, you missed a cracking event.

Huge congratulations to Charly Gray and James Hobbs from Lincoln for winning the all-new, no expense spared, floating shelf on which to place all future awards – we’re expecting to hear great things. In second place was Neil Ritson and Stefan van Zoggel, also from Lincoln, followed by Casey Bird and Lee Hudson from Gloucestershire.

Our new iPad app

I used to have a creative director who always used to say don’t work harder, work smarter (You know who you are!). I finally took on his advice last night – four years later – while sat at home drawing up some scamps ready for a tissue meeting today. Google images is always handy to use to try and get people / objects looking pretty accurate and realistic – which can take a while (it does with me anyways). So I used to work hard.

Last night I googled a Ninja on my iPad. And suddenly the smarter bit hit me. Not only did I have the perfect image in the right position, but I could put my layout paper over the iPad and use it as a lightbox. Perfect. You can also easily draw images bigger than the screen by tracing in sections and moving the image. I’m sure its the only thing you can do on it without Wifi, and / or an app, but I will now use it every time scamps are required.

NB:  If you do do this, putting more than two fingers on the screen helps to stop the image / screen moving. Blue tack on the edges and no fingers on the screen is an alternative
